Neon Bodega Cats.

Neon Bodega Cats is a lo-fi visual world trying to keep up with the ultra-digital. Using traditional ink illustration mixed with lowbrow, scholastic materials like highlighters and crayons, the work merges urban folklore, feline mysticism, and neon kitsch into a surreal, shrine-like experience. Inspired by New York bodegas and 1990s corner-store aesthetics, the project explores themes of communal identity, spiritual longing, humor, and counterculture.

The cats are both divine and ridiculous—stand-ins for saints, shopkeepers, neighborhood guardians, and collective projection. The work balances sincerity with absurdity, poking at the sacred and the disposable in equal measure. Neon Bodega Cats is as much about memory and mythology as it is about building new visual languages from overlooked cultural fragments.
